In the past twelve months “Echo” directed by Magnus von Horn was invited to more than 30 international film festivals becoming one of the most often screened Polish short films abroad. Apart from many awards “Echo” has been receiving appreciation by gaining numerous special mentions as well. Recently the film has been honoured with Grand Prix of the 5th International Film Festival “In the Family Circle” in Russia.
Another edition of festival Tous Courts in French Aix-en-Provence has come to an end. Short fiction „Real” directed by Rafał Samusik was one of the awarded films along with „Big Bang Big Boom” made by Italian artist Blu and French „On Ne mourra pas” by Amal Kateb.
One of the most often screened Polish animation „Millhaven” was awarded at International Film Festival in Anchorage in Alaska.
At recently finished Kyoto International Student Film and Video Festival 2010 short film directed by Kuba Czekaj and produced by Munk Studio was awarded the Grand Prix of the festival.
Lesław Dobrucki’s documentary „Little Bride”, produced by Andrzej Wajda Master School of Film Directing, was given the prize in Mexico. This is the next laurel honoured at the international festival after Vilnius Film Shorts 2010, where “Little Bride” were awarded as well.
As the sole Polish documentary and Polish short film „Out of Reach” by Jakub Stożek has been selected for the Sundance Film Festival – one of the biggest and one of the most important film event on the world.
European Film Awards were handed out on Saturday in Tallin. Polish Hanoi-Warsaw directed by Katarzyna Klimkiewicz won in the cathegory of the short film.
This year’s edition of International Film festival of the art of cinematography PLUS CAMERIMAGE has come to an end. Polish filmmakers have been celebrating this especially happy ending as their films were honoured with several awards.
Among all documentaries taking part in the IDFA competition, the international jury selected three films in each of eight competition sections that are going to be nominaned for the main prize. Igor Chojna’s documentary Screening at the Tatry cinema has been nominated in the Student films cathegory.

Two indigenous documentaries, “Chemo” and “Mother” were honoured with the highest awards – each in their respective categories – at the International Documentary Film Festival “Cinema Vérité” in Teheran.
Within only a week, the film by Katarzyna Klimikiewicz stood twice on the podium at the European festivals. On the 7th November, “Hanoi-Warsaw” got the Special Award at the Cottbus Film Festival in Germany, and a few days later – won the first award in the competition at the Spanish festival ALCINE.
Cottbus Film Festival, which took place from 2nd to 7th November, was a success for two Polish feature films: “All that I Love” and short-length “Hanoi-Warsaw.” For Katarzyna Klimkiewicz, debuting in short length film, it is yet another important award this year.
