This year's edition of Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, the largest European short film festival, begins on January 30. Four Polish films are included in its programme. From February 2, the latest Polish short films will be also represented at the accompanying film market, where the POLISH SHORTS stand will be organized for the eighth time.
'Object', the documentary film by Paulina Skibińska, was given a Short Film Special Jury Award for Visual Poetry at the Sundance Film Festival. The competition screening was at the same time the film's world première.
In 2014, Polish documentary films were shown at international film festivals almost 380 times, winning a total of almost 70 awards. Short fiction by Vahram Mkhitaryan - "Milky Brother" was chosen the best short film of the Premiers Plans film festival, held in Angers, France. The festival ended on Saturday, January 25.
'Our Curse', nominated for the Academy Award, has been appreciated once again. This time, the film was chosen the Best School/University Documentary Film at the Irvine International Film Festival.
The beginning of the year brings new screenings and chances of awards for Polish animated films. Though there are not many festival screenings this months, Polish animated films will be shown at prestigious film festivals, among others, at the French Clermont-Ferrand, American Slamdance and Swedish Goteborg.
Joanna by Aneta Kopacz and Our Curse by Tomasz Śliwiński received the nominations for the Academy Awards in the short documentary film category. It is an enormous success of Polish cinema.
