On the 6th June the oldest film feast in Poland- 50th Krakow Film Festival - came to an end. During the jubilee gala lots of young polish filmmakers received the awards, among them: Karolina Bielawska, Julia Ruszkiewicz, Bartek Kulas and Igor Chojna. For the first time in many years the highest distincion in the international competition – The Golden Dragon – went to the polish film „Out of reach” directed by Jakub Stożek.
At the recently finished Canadian festival CFC Worldwide Short Film Festival, one of the most important short film festivals in North America, "Luxury" by Jarek Sztandera got one of the most important awards of this festival - the most important one, because given by the festival audience.
Promoting the latest Polish cinematography in the form of the collection of films on DVD is more and more visible. The perfect example is the recently released DVD edition "Polish Docs 2010", which appeared thanks to Krakow Film Foundation.
Jury of the Canadian Documentary Film Festival DOXA in Vancouver has given the main prizes to Paweł Łoziński - in the feature film competition, and to Rafał Skalski - in the short film competition.
The organizers of the Portuguese festival Curtas Vila do Conde, in co-operation with Krakow Film Foundation, prepared a presentation of five Polish short and documentary films.

World Fest-Houston Independent International Film Festival took place from 9-18 April. Two Polish documentaries and one feature film were honoured with awards during the closing ceremony of the American film event.
The selectors of the 50th Krakow Film Festival, one of the oldest European film events, have ended their work and now we know the list of films qualified for the competitions of the anniversary 50th edition of the Festival, which will take place from 31st May to 6th June.
In the first half of May, in Vancouver, the Documentary Film Festival DOXA will start. At this festival, there will also appear a representation of Polish documentary cinema. Four films by Polish directors have been qualified to the international competition.
In the second half of April, two German cities – Berlin and Potsdam – will turn into the main centres promoting Polish cinema for a couple of days. Among the shown films there will also be documentaries. What is more, the festival will be accompanied by workshops conducted by Marcin Koszałka.
At one of the biggest festivals on the world, Hot Docs in Toronto, Canada, there will be a strong representation of Polish documentary cinema. Two Polish films will take part in the competition, while as much as 22 films will be shown during the film market Doc Shop 2010.
The second edition of the DVD POLISH SHORTS is available. The DVD, with a selection of twelve most interesting short-length feature films, animated films and documentaries produced in Poland in 2009, will be promoted on the most important film events around the world.
A real feast of Polish documentary awaits the audience of the 12th Thessaloniki International Documentary Film Festival. There are as much a 27 Polish films scheduled to be shown at the festival.
