2017 brought many successes to Polish short films. Almost 220 films were shown at about 1000 festival screenings all around the world, winning nearly 130 awards. Polish short film was also the special guest at the following festivals: Encounters IFF in Bristol, Cartoon Forum, Asiana International Short Film Festival and Seoul International Cartoon and Animation Festival SICAF in Korea.
On Saturday the award ceremony of the International Short Film Festival took place in Clermont-Ferrand. Two awards went to Polish productions: ”Tremors” by Dawid Bodzak and ”Dust” by Jakub Radej.
"Opera about Poland" by Piotr Stasik won Between the Stars Award at the festival Ji.hlava. Soon, the film will be shown at special screenings in Berlin and Brussels.

In 2017, Polish documentary films were shown at international film festivals abroad over 520 times, winning a total of 75 awards, including the prestigious European Film Award and awards at IDFA - world's biggest documentary film festival. Polish documentary film was a special guest at, among others, FIDBA in Argentina, GZDOC in China and BogoShorts in Colombia. Let's take a look at the summary of the last year.
This year's edition of the festival in Clermont-Ferrand, Europe's biggest short film festival, will begin on February 2nd. Three Polish films entered the festival competition this year. The festival will also host a special screening of the films made in the Łódź Film School. The latest Polish short productions will also be presented during the film market organised with the festival, where POLISH SHORTS stand will open for the twelfth time.
On January 28th Budapest International Documentary Festival in Hungary came to an end. Two Polish films: "Communion" by Anna Zamecka and "Zhalanash - Empty Shore" by Marcin Sauter were among the festival winners.
