At the Documentary Film Festival FIDMarseille in Marseilles, which finished on 12th of July, the Polish documentary “The work of the machines” by three directors, Michał Mądracki, Maciej Mądracki and Gilles Lepore, won the main prize in the international competition.
The organizers of the International Documentary Film Festival in Mexico, which will take place from 21st to 31st October, have announced the list of films qualified for the competition program. Among them, there are six Polish films.
From among 1500 films sent in for the competition at the International Film Festival in Odense, which will take place from 23rd to 18th August, three Polish short films have been selected.
Lately, the documentary “The Lucky Ones” by Tomasz Wolski, frequently awarded at festivals in Poland and abroad, won new laurels – this time at the most important film events in North America.
With the feature films by Borys Lankosz (“Reverse”) and by Paweł Sala (“Mother Teresa of Cats”) at this year’s 45th International Film Festival in Karlovy Vary, two Polish documentaries will be shown: “Beats of Freedom” by Wojciech Słota and Leszek Gnoiński and “The Promised One” by Lesław Dobrucki, who will compete for the main prize in the Documentary Film Competition.
The one of the largest in Russia and one of the most important on the world film event, namely the 32nd International Film Festival in Moscow has just begun. Several Polish films are in the programme, rich and diversified as far as subjects and genres are concerned. The festival audience will have an opportunity to get acquainted with the frequently awarded documentaries, as well as with feature films – short and long ones.

On the 6th June the oldest film feast in Poland- 50th Krakow Film Festival - came to an end. During the jubilee gala lots of young polish filmmakers received the awards, among them: Karolina Bielawska, Julia Ruszkiewicz, Bartek Kulas and Igor Chojna. For the first time in many years the highest distincion in the international competition – The Golden Dragon – went to the polish film „Out of reach” directed by Jakub Stożek.
At the recently finished Canadian festival CFC Worldwide Short Film Festival, one of the most important short film festivals in North America, "Luxury" by Jarek Sztandera got one of the most important awards of this festival - the most important one, because given by the festival audience.
Promoting the latest Polish cinematography in the form of the collection of films on DVD is more and more visible. The perfect example is the recently released DVD edition "Polish Docs 2010", which appeared thanks to Krakow Film Foundation.
Jury of the Canadian Documentary Film Festival DOXA in Vancouver has given the main prizes to Paweł Łoziński - in the feature film competition, and to Rafał Skalski - in the short film competition.
