Three Polish Animations: „The Lost Town of Świteź” by Kamil Polak, „Paths of Hate” by Damian Nenow and „Maska” by Quay Brothers were awarded in the category of short film at 35th International Animation Film Festival in French Annecy, that finished on 11th June.
Three Polish documentaries – the one directed by Marta Minorowicz, the second – by Marcin Koszałka, and the third - by Paweł Kloc, will be screened during one of the biggest film event in Russia - 33 . Moscow International Film Festival.
In the beginning of July the 46th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival starts. Polish documentary – “Declaration of immortality” by Marcin Koszałka – will compete for the main prize.
51st edition of Krakow Film Festival have come to an end. During the closing ceremony Polish documentary filmmakers have been awarded 16 times!
As every year, the Krakow Film Festival is accompanied by many branch events addressed to the film professionals present at the festival. Industry Zone is the space dedicated especially to the film professionals.
Repeatedly awarded „Hanoi – Warsaw” directed by Katarzyna Klimkiewicz took the top honours in the short film cathegory at „Shaken’s Stars” International Film Festival in Kazachstan that finished yesterday.
Piotr Złotorowicz’s “Charcoal Burners”, short documentary produced by Polish National Film School in Łódź, was awarded once again – this time at the Kansas City FilmFest.
April 14 in Chicago the 47th Hugo TV Awards were announced. “Declaration of immortality” by Marcin Koszałka was listed among the winners.
During the ending ceremony of the 17th edition of Visions du Réel in Nyon, Switzerland, 16 prizes were given in the festival’s international competition. One of them went to Polish documentary filmmaker, Michał Marczak, director of “At the Edge of Russia”.
The principal event dedicated to the culture of documentary in Latin America, It’s All True 2011 – International Documentary Film Festival, came to an end. Once again this year Jakub Stożek and his short film “Out of Reach” appeared among the winners.
Beyond the borders of Poland writing about Polish films, especially about documentaries, is not a common practice. Therefore, what a great honour is the publication of two Polish documentary films reviews in one of the most popular magazine in the USA, ‘Variety’.
Ósma edycja festiwalu Docudays UA w Kijowie dobiegła końca. Wśród laureatów znalazł się Jakub Stożek, reżyser wyróżnionego na Sundance Film Festival „Poza zasięgiem”.
