The beginning of autumn promises to be intensive for Polish animated film-makers. This month, screenings at over 15 film festivals are in store for us.
This year, the Serbian festival Balkanima is held from 4 to 8 October. In the programme, there are as many as nine Polish animated films.
Though it is still sunny outside, the holidays are slowly drawing to an end, and Polish documentary films return to the festival rhythm. In September, twelve documentary films will be shown at screenings abroad.
The film "The Tenants" by Klara Kochańska is the winner of the 43rd edition of the Student Academy Awards. The award ceremony is held on September 22.
Polish documentary films dealing with the subject matter of the mountains are again successful. This time, "The Place" by Julia Popławska and "Jurek" by Paweł Wysoczański were awarded at the Festival Internacional de Cine de Montaña Ushuaia Shh in Argentina.
"21 x New York City," directed by Piotr Stasik, was included on the list of 15 documentary films recommended to the European Film Award! From among hundreds of submitted titles, the members of EFA selected the list of 15 titles, from among which, 5 nominations will be chosen. The winner will be announced during the official ceremony in Wroclaw.
"Snails," directed by Grzegorz Szczepaniak, the short documentary film produced by Wajda Studio, was awarded in the USA at Traverse City Film Festival.
The film "The Dogcatcher," directed by Daria Woszek, won the Best Short Film Grand Prize at the 20th edition of Flickers’ Rhode Island International Film Festival. The award enables the film to apply for the Academy Award.
As many as four Polish films will be shown in September at the animated film festival in Ottawa.
During summer holidays, Polish short films, and, above all, their makers, have time to catch their breath and take a rest from festival screenings. Nevertheless, you can watch our shorts in August all around the world - from Japan to Canada.
On July 31, ended the 16th edition of T-Mobile New Horizons International Film Festival in Wroclaw. Among the award-winning films, there are also Polish productions.
