In spite of holiday season, this month Polish animated films have a chance to win more festival awards. In July await us almost 40 screenings, which will be held at twelve film festivals.
This year, the 29th edition of the Pärnu International Documentary and Antropology Film Festival was held in Pärnu. Three Polish films returned from Estonia with awards: "Something better to come", "The Shepherd's Song" and "Invisible".
The documentary film by Paulina Skibińska won yet another festival award. This time, it is the jury's special mention at the Art Film Fest in Teplice, Slovakia.
This year, two Polish films are among the award-winners of the Bulgarian International Short Film Festival In the Palace. "Such A Landscape" by Jagoda Szelc was chosen the Best Fiction Film of the festival, and the film "Invisible" by Zofia Pręgowska was given Special Mention on Documentary.
On 22nd June the 26th International Documentary Film Market Sunny Side of the Doc starts in French town of La Rochelle. It is one of the largest industry events dedicated to documentary film, which is annually visited by the representatives of the most important television channels, distributors and film producers from the entire world. Poles present their works there already for the ninth time.
Each year in mid-June, animation professionals from all around the world gather in a small town in France called Annecy. Annecy is the location of the oldest film festival dedicated to animated film, as well as the accompanying Mifa exhibition. Each year, Polish films are featured both at the festival and at the animation industry-related part of the event.
This year's edition of Brooklyn Film Festival was held from May 29 to June 7. One of its winners is Bartek Konopka and his short fiction film "From Bed Thou Arose."
"Killing Auntie" by Mateusz Głowacki won the Best Live-Action Film award of the Zlin Dog competition. Zlin Film Festival was held from May 29 to 4 June.
