The beginning of Autumn marks a busy period for Polish animated filmmakers. This month there are 25 screenings planned at festivals spread all over the globe.
On 17 September, the list of ten films competing for the Cinema Eye Honors awards in the Outstanding Achievement in Nonfiction Short Filmmaking category was announced. Among the shortlisted films, there is also the award-winning documentary film by Teresa Czepiec, "Super Unit".
On September 18 begins the 15th edition of the Flahertiana International Documentary Film Festival in Perm. During this edition, in the Special Programme prepared in co-operation with Krakow Film Foundation, 20 Polish documentary films will be shown, and "The Queen of Silence" and "Werka" will compete in the international competition.
"You Keep An Eye On Us" by Arek Biedrzycki and "Knife in the Wife" by Vita Maria Drygas won five UNICA awards. The film by Biedrzycki was given Gold Prize in the student competition as well as special awards - for the Best Film and the Jury Prize. "Knife in the Wife" won Bronze Prize in the student competition and the Best Photography award.
On September 6 ended the 11th edition of the Mountain Film Meetings. "Jurek" by Paweł Wysoczański won the main award in the international film competition.
Two screenings of recent Polish animated films were included in the programme of this year's edition of the Argentinean CARTÓN International Animation Film Festival. The fifth edition of the festival is held between 1st and 7th September.
"Milky Brother," short fiction film by Vahram Mkhitaryan, was awarded the Lessinia d'Argento statuette for the best directing at the Festival della Lessinia. The director collected the award in person.
Five short documentary films made by Lodz Film School will be available on-line on the website DAFilms.com The films are available for free only until Sunday.
On August 16 ended the Columbia Gorge International Film Festival. "My 89 Generation" by Paweł Jóźwiak-Rodan was chosen the best feature-length documentary film.
On Tuesday, September 1, in Tribeca Film Center in New York, there will be a special screening of the films by Teresa Czepiec, at which two short documentary films made by the director will be shown: "Super Unit", "Rezonans" and the feature film "Test".
