At the beginning of this week the organisers of French festival in Clermont Ferrand announced the results of this year’s selection. There are four Polish films among those invited to screen as a part of the competitive sections.
The short fiction film by Martin Rath, "Arena," won the Best Fiction Student Film Award at the Kinoproba festival in Yekaterinburg. The festival ended on December 4.
It was yesterday evening when the 11th edition of Slovenian Animateka came to an end. The Grand Prix of the festival went to the Polish animated film – “To Thy Heart” by Ewa Borysewicz.

This month Polish short films – documentaries, fiction films and animations – will screen 35 times at 17 festivals abroad. Even though the end of the year approaches, Polish films still stand chances of being awarded.
The winning streak of Tomasz Śliwiński’s documentary “Our curse” continues. The film was awarded with the Best International Short Documentary prize at Bogoshorts festival that ended on Tuesday, 9 December, in the capital of Colombia.
After a busy November, in December the festival paste seems to slow down a bit. This month Polish animated films will screen 23 times at merely seven festivals.
Michał Szcześniak’s “Starting Point” and Paulina Skibińska’s “The Object” have been selected for the Documentary Short Films competition at the world’s most important independent cinema event, the Sundance Film Festival. Both films were produced by the Munk Studio, which operates under the auspices of the Polish Filmmakers Association (PFA).
In December film festivals are normally organized only during the first two weeks of the month. Later on the holiday season starts. During these two weeks nearly thirty Polish documentary films will be screened at ten film festivals.
Two Polish student films were awarded during the closing evening of the 37th Poitiers Film Festival. The jury decided to present the awards to “Ziegenort” by Tomasz Popakul and “Magma” by Paweł Maślona.
„Sati”, a short documentary by Bartłomiej Świderski, received Prix Jury Festivals Connexion – Région Rhône Alpes at International Mountain Film Festival in Autrans. The festival ended on 7 December.
