At the recently finished 3rd edition of Ekran Toronto Polish Film Festival, Jakub Cuman was awarded with Michał Maryniarczyk Award for his film "The Contest". The film was produced in "Studio Munka", which works within the structures of Polish Filmmakers Association.
After last week’s success at Molodist, where “Twist and Blood” by Kuba Czekaj was awarded the Best Student Film, its crew has every reason to feel glad again as today the film received a special mention at Czech OSTRAVA PICTURES.
On 6th November the 21st edition of Brazilian Rio de Janeiro International Short Film Festival Curta Cinema reached the end. Fortunate for the young Polish filmmakers, two films were presented the awards.
The announcement of the awards at 21st FilmFestival Cottbus on 6th November saw the Special Prize in the Short Feature Competition go to Piotr Subbotko for GLASGOW. The Cottbus is deemed the world’s most important event focussing on the achievements of Eastern European cinema. GLASGOW was co-produced by the Munk Studio, the Polish Filmmakers Association and the Wajda Studio.
The International Documentary Film Festival in Guía de Isora, MiradasDoc came to an end. Polish film “Oh My God, Dear God” directed by Julia Popławska was announced as the Best Short Documentary.
On 30th October the 41. edition of International Film Festival Molodist reached the end. After nine days of film screenings the winners were announced.
In reference to the alarming information coming from Iran about uncertain situation of arrested Iranian filmmakers, international documentary filmmaking milieu decided to unite and started boycotting “Cinema Verité” Iran International Documentary Film Festival in Tehran.
At the 18. International Young Filmmakers Festival Of Granada “Declaration of Immortality” by Marcin Koszałka was given the Best Experimental Film Award. This is the another prize for the film, already honoured in Chicago, Trento, Tampere and Karlove Vary.
On 30th October the ninth edition of International Animation Festival “Tindirindis”, that ran from 24th October in Vilnius, came to end. During six festival days the audience had a chance to watch more than 440 animated films.
“Sing me to sleep” by Magnus Arnesen was one of three short films that received the Special Mention at Ourense International Film Festival that came to an end yesterday.
The last weekend has ended with great success for Polish documentary films. Our compatriots have won awards not only in Leipzig, Germany, but also in Belgium and France.
Last Saturday evening the winners of 54. edition of DOK Leipzig were announced. Just like in the previous years also this time Polish documentaries celebrated the great success.
