We already know the full list of films qualified for the competitions of 54th Krakow Film Festival. This year, 21 Polish documentary films will compete for awards in various competitive sections.
Two Polish documentary filmmakers are among the award-winners at the 11th Film Festival in Brive. Agnieszka Elbanowska was given the Mention Europe award for her film "The Love Equation of Henry Fast," and Aneta Kopacz - the Audience Award for "Joanna."
Last weekend, Polish short documentaries won two awards at the festivals in the Netherlands and in the United States. Paweł Ziemilski - the author of the film "Rogalik," and Tomasz Śliwiński - the author of "Our Curse" enlarged the pool of their awards, adding two new statuettes.
In April, the festival life of Polish documentaries will gain momentum. Nineteen films will take part in seventeen international festivals and will be shown at almost thirty screenings.
"Killing Auntie" by Mateusz Głowacki won in the Poznań Open competition. "Our Curse" by Tomasz Śliwiński won the Short Waves Grand Prix award.
This month, Polish short films will be shown at 16 festivals, among others, in Germany, Finland and Iceland. There are over 40 screenings in store.
The festival Docudays UA, which finished on 28 March, was particularly successful for Polish documentary filmmakers. Aneta Kopacz won the Audience Award and Special Mention in the Docu/Short competition for her film "Joanna." "A Diary of A Journey" by Piotr Stasik won Andriy Matrosov Award, given by the Docudays UA Organising Committee.
Yesterday evening the 21st edition of the Febio Fest, which lasted from 21 March in Bratislava, ended. During this year's edition of the festival, two Polish films were awarded in the short film category.
The second edition of Hungarian Friss Hus Short Film Festival kicked off yesterday in Budapest. The festival’s programme features the special screening of Polish short films. The festival will end on Sunday.
The official selection of the upcoming edition of the Annecy Festival – which is the biggest and the most prominent animated film festival worldwide - has been revealed. This year five Polish short animated films were selected to the programme.
We already know the programme of this year's edition of the Canadian Hot Docs festival. In various sections, four Polish documentary films will be screened: "Domino effect" by Piotr Rosłowski and Elwira Niewiera, "Fire-followers" by Karolina Breguła, "The Supreme" by Katarzyna Gondek and "Walking under water" by Eliza Kubarska.
"My House Without Me" by Magdalena Szymków was appreciated by the jury of WOW Film Festival, which ended on 14 March. The film was chosen the Best International Documentary and was given the WOW Award in this category.
Last weekend, "All Souls' Day" – a graduation film by Aleksandra Terpińska won another two awards at the student film festival Watersprite, which took place from 7 to 9 March in Cambridge, England.
