In the second half of November there are going to be one of the biggest events in the documentary world – International Documentary Film Festival in Amsterdam and accompanying film market, Docs for Sale, that belongs to the most significant international industry event of that kind. Very strong representation of Polish documentary will appear at both of them.
At the forthcoming Cortopotere Short Film Festival in Bergamo in Italy four Polish shorts – documentaries as well as fiction films – will take part in the competition programme.
Open Saint Petersburg Student Film Festival “Beginning” has just finished. Among the winners there are the student films from two Polish film schools: University of Silesia in Katowice and Polish National Film, Television and Theatre School in Lodz.
ALCINE – Festival de Cine de Alcalá de Henares / Comunidad de Madrid, with the cooperation with the Krakow Film Foundation and the Polish Culture Institute in Madrid, prepare the special programme dedicated to Polish cinema. At recently finished Batumi International Film Festival in Georgia three Polish productions found themselves among the awarded films. Katarzyna Klimkiewicz, Bartek Konopka and Jakub Piątek were those, who received awards in both of the main competitions.
Three Polish shorts – „Hanoi-Warsaw” by Katarzyna Klimkiewicz, „My poor head” directed by Adrian Panek, „The scent of flowers does not blow against the wind” made by Leszek Korusiewicz and Wojciech Kasperski’s documentary „Chasm”- have been nominated for the awards Grand Off 2010. The fourth edition of World Independent Film Awards - Grand Off will be held in Warsaw from 22nd to 27th November.
During recently finished International Film Festival in Monterrey in Mexico Marcin Janos Krawczyk – the author of „Six weeks”, has been awarded prize for the Best Short Documentary, which now is the next significant laurel for his film.
