FESTIVALS IN NOVEMBER

The documentary film by Paulina Skibińska was appreciated by the members of the International Documentary Association IDA. The film is nominated for the IDA Awards in the short film category.
In November, in Moscow and Kazan, the Polish Doc Days festival will be held, organised by Polish Institute in Moscow. Within the frames of the event, Polish documentary films will be shown, made both by the masters and by young beginner film-makers. Krakow Film Foundation is the co-organiser and partner of this event.
In recent months, the documentary film by Paweł Wysoczański has been successful at many international festival. Soon, the film "Jurek" will be shown during screenings in the United States and Canada.
On November 1, ended the 58th edition of the DOK.Leipzig festival. The Main Award in the International Competition went to Wojciech Staroń for the film "Brothers." But that is not all!
Two Polish films were awarded at the Molodist film festival, which ended last Sunday in Kiev. "Pinky" by Tomasz Cichoń won the Best Film in the International Short Competition award, and "Milky Brother" by Vahram Mkhitaryan – the Special Award of the Jury.
Polish documentary film can boast a success at the East Silver Market, accompanying the International Documentary Film Festival in Jihlava. Two Polish productions were given the Silver Eye Awards there.
"Fugue for cello, trumpet and a landscape" by Jerzy Kucia received another special mention this week. The film was listed as one of the winners of the Bosnian Banjaluka festival that for the last eight months has been held in late October.
Short animation "Lost senses" directed by Marcin Wasilewski and produced by GS Animation was awarded at the American The World Animation Celebration festival. The event that was held between 23rd and 25th October is organised by Animation Magazine and Animation Libation Studios.
This year, the 8th edition of the Imagine Science Film Festival in New York was held. The documentary film by Julia Popławska was given a special mention at this festival.
On October 26, American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced a shortlist of ten documentary films, which have a chance for an Academy Award nomination in the Documentary Short Subject category. Among the films, which will compete for the nomination for the Academy Award, there is "Starting Point" by Michał Szcześniak.
Polish animation will form a great part of this years, fifth edition of Taiwaneese KDIAF – Kuandu International Animation Festival. The programme features the films by Polish directors and meetings with guests coming from Poland
