Last weekend brought two awards for Polish animated films. A multiple award winner “Ziegenort” by Tomek Popakul was listed among the winning titles of the 17th edition of the SICAF in Korea, while “Rondo” by Artur Kordas, making its' debut abroad, has been awarded by the jury of the Puerto Rican festival Cinefiesta.
A six minute long animation “Lost senses” produced by the based in Gdańsk GS Animation is doing very well at foreign film festivals. Last weekend the film received a jury award of the Portuguese Avanca Film Festival.
Last Saturday the names of the laureates of the short film competition of the 13th T-Mobile New Horizons International Film Festival were announced. More than 70 films were judged by the international jury.
A graduate fiction film “The Mother” by Łukasz Ostalski performs better and better at international film festivals. This evening the director received in person the award for the Best Short Film at the 60th Pula Film Festival.
The Euganea Film Festival kicked off at the beginning of July in Italian Monselice. After nearly two weeks of screenings yesterday evening the names of the laureates were finally revealed. Among them was a Polish documentarist Łukasz Borowski.
The tenth edition of the Armenian Golden Apricot Film Festival will end this evening. One of three Polish films selected to screen in short film competition Apricot Stones – “The Mother” by Łukasz Ostalski – will fly back to Poland with a special mention.
Athough the holidays started for good, the silly season doesn’t cover the film festival that every summer are springing up thoughtout the whole season. Until the end of the month Polish films will be screened at 12 film festivals abroad.
This Thursday, before noon, the audience of the Portuguese festival CURTAS will get the chance of watching the special programme of Polish short films screened as a part of non-competitive European Panorama. Five films will be screened in the programme.
Summer is the time when music festivals are all around, whereas there film festival rush is getting less loud. Nevertheless, Polish documentaries will be shown on festival screens on three continents in July.
The new film by Paweł Łoziński “Father and son” has been considered the best film of the Documentary Competition at 35th Moscow Internetional Film Festival. The Awards Gala was celebrated on Saturday, June 29th
Documentary “The Whistle” presented so far at more than 20 foreign film festivals is still on the move. Last week the film got awarded at the London Open City Docs Fest.
This year’s, 19th edition of Palm Springs International ShortFest came to an end last Saturday. Polish filmmaker – Paweł Maślona – celebrated a success when his short fiction “Magma” was announced the Best Student Live Action Short over 15 minutes.
On June 25th the international documentary film market Sunny Side of the Doc will begin in La Rochelle (France). It’s one of the biggest film industry events focused on documentaries and every year it’s visited by film commissioners, distributors and producers from all around the world. It’s seventh time now that Poland has its stand at the market.
