ANIMATED FILM FESTIVALS IN MARCH
Festivals in March promise very well. Only this month, Polish animated films will be present in the programmes of sixteen animated film festivals. There are over hundred screenings in store.
“OUR CURSE” AWARDED AT BIFF
The run of luck for Polish documentary film continues. "Our Curse" by Tomasz Śliwiński returned from the Boulder International Film Festival with the best short documentary film award.
“OBJECT” BY PAULINA SKIBIŃSKA WITH SPECIAL MENTION AT TAMPERE FILM FESTIVAL
"Object" by Paulina Skibińska was awarded again. This time, it was given a diploma of merit at the film festival in Tampere.
MARCH AT THE FESTIVALS
With the beginning of spring, Polish documentary films wake up to the festival life. In March, as many as 16 Polish films will feature on 25 screenings within the frames of 15 international film festivals.
POLISH ANIMATED FILMS CONQUER CAIRO
Polish animated films won two main awards and four special mentions at the Animated Film Forum in Cairo, which ended today, February 25. The award-winning films are "Lost Senses" by Marcin Wasilewski, "Darling" by Izabela Plucińska and "Baths" by Tomek Ducki.
“JUREK” WINS THE GRAND PRIX IN VANCOUVER
The documentary "Jurek" by Paweł Wysoczański won the main award at the 18th Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival.
AROUND THE YEAR AT SHORT FILM FESTIVALS – THE SUMMARY OF 2014
2014 was particularly successful for Polish short film. Numbers speak for themselves - Polish shorts were present at over 1200 festival screenings around the world and received 165 awards. Even more, special screenings featuring Polish short film were organized at many important festivals, including Guanajuato International Film Festival in Mexico and International Short Film Festival in Drama, Greece. ANIMATED FILM FESTIVALS IN FEBRUARY
This month, new festivals and chances to win awards await Polish animated films. Though there are relatively few festival screenings in February, just like in January, Polish animated films continue to be popular.
THE WHOLE YEAR AT ANIMATED FILM FESTIVALS – THE SUMMARY OF 2014
In the ranking according to film genres, the most frequently shown short films in 2014 were animated films. On the basis of aggregated data, Polish animated films were shown abroad almost 340 times. It is even more joyous that Polish animated films were awarded 64 times.
“THE DOMINO EFFECT” IN MOMA
'The Domino Effect' is invited to screen as a part of the Documentary Fortnight: MoMA’s International Festival of Nonfiction Film and Media. The film directed by Piotr Rosołowski and Elwira Niewiera will be screened in Museum of Modern Art in New York on 19th and 20th February.
POLISH SHORT FILMS IN CLERMONT-FERRAND
This year's edition of Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, the largest European short film festival, begins on January 30. Four Polish films are included in its programme. From February 2, the latest Polish short films will be also represented at the accompanying film market, where the POLISH SHORTS stand will be organized for the eighth time.
‘OBJECT’ AWARDED AT SUNDANCE FESTIVAL
'Object', the documentary film by Paulina Skibińska, was given a Short Film Special Jury Award for Visual Poetry at the Sundance Film Festival. The competition screening was at the same time the film's world première.
