After a busy November, in December the festival paste seems to slow down a bit. This month Polish animated films will screen 23 times at merely seven festivals.

TWO POLISH DOCUMENTARIES IN THE SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL COMPETITION!
Michał Szcześniak’s “Starting Point” and Paulina Skibińska’s “The Object” have been selected for the Documentary Short Films competition at the world’s most important independent cinema event, the Sundance Film Festival. Both films were produced by the Munk Studio, which operates under the auspices of the Polish Filmmakers Association (PFA).
DECEMBER FESTIVALS
In December film festivals are normally organized only during the first two weeks of the month. Later on the holiday season starts. During these two weeks nearly thirty Polish documentary films will be screened at ten film festivals.
„ZIEGENORT” AND „MAGMA” AWARDED IN POITIERS
Two Polish student films were awarded during the closing evening of the 37th Poitiers Film Festival. The jury decided to present the awards to “Ziegenort” by Tomasz Popakul and “Magma” by Paweł Maślona.
„SATI” AWARDED IN FRANCE
„Sati”, a short documentary by Bartłomiej Świderski, received Prix Jury Festivals Connexion – Région Rhône Alpes at International Mountain Film Festival in Autrans. The festival ended on 7 December.
SUCCESS OF POLISH ANIMATED FILMS AT CANADIAN FESTIVAL
Three awards – including the top Grand Prix – were presented to Polish animated films during the Canadian Les Sommets du Cinéma d’animation that reached its end yesterday evening. The 13th edition of the festival was held between 27th November and 7th December.
POLES AWARDED AT TOUS COURTS FESTIVAL
It was on Saturday evening when Poles celebrated a great success during the closing of the 32nd edition of the Tous Courts Short Film Festival which was held in Aix-en-Provence. Three awards, including the Grand Prix, went to Polish films.
THE LAUNCH OF REDESIGNED WEBSITES POLISH DOCS, POLISH SHORTS AND POLISH ANIMATIONS
From today on the websites Polish Docs, Polish Shorts and Polish Animations devoted to documentary, short and animated films welcome visitors with the clean, uncluttered design. Apart from quite well known websites Polish Docs and Polish Shorts, that have now received the new structure, the third one, brand new – Polish Animations website – is introduced.
„SOMETHING BETTER TO COME” NOMINATED FOR THE IDFA AWARDS
The jury of the IDFA festival announced the list of the films nominated for the awards in all the seven competitive sections. Polish-Danish coproduction “Something better to come” by Hanna Polak has been nominated in two of them: IDFA Competition for Feature-Length Documentary and IDFA DOC U Award.
POLES AWARDED AT THE ZINEBI FESTIVAL IN BILBAO
Two Polish animated films were listed among the laureates of the 56th edition of the Spanish ZINEBI - International Festival of Documentary and Short Film of Bilbao. The jury awarded “Baths” by Tomek Ducki and “Hippos” by Piotr Dumała.
POLISH WINNERS OF THE 22ND INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL CAMERIMAGE
The best film of the Short Documentary Film Competition is “Starting point” by Michał Szcześniak. The film was awarded with Golden Frog for the cinematography by Przemysław Niczyporuk. Andrzej Cichocki was awarded with the Silver Tadpole in the Student Etudes Competition for the cinematography to his own film “The shadow forest”.
TWO AWARDS FOR POLISH ANIMATED FILMS AT ANILOGUE
Yesterday evening the 12th edition of the Hungarian Anilogue festival reached its end. Among the films acclaimed by the jury were two Polish animated films – “Baths” by Tomek Ducki and “Darling” by Izabela Plucińska.
“BATHS “ RECEIVES A SPECIAL MENTION IN LEEDS
Short animation by Tomek Ducki received another award yesterday evening. Film was picked up by the jury of UK’s Leeds International Film Festival. This is the sixteenth award the film scores.
