“ALL SOULS’ DAY” WINS TWO AWARDS IN CAMBRIDGE

After a lazy beginning of the year, spring marks a busy time. In March, Polish short films will be shown at 25 film festivals, among others, in the USA, Hong Kong, Finland and Spain. 43 festival screenings are in store for us.
This year's frequency results are not very different from the ones we noted last year. Between January and December 2013, Polish short films were shown at foreign film festivals over 950 times. However, the fact that particularly makes us proud is that in 2013 Polish films were awarded 110 times.
In 2013, Polish documentary films were invited to take part in the festivals around the world almost 480 times, winning over 50 awards, including such prestigious ones as Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance festival. Polish documentary cinema was also the special guest at the Hot Docs festival in Canada, and its latest achievements were shown at the Sunny Side of the Doc market. This month, Polish short films will be screened at festivals, among others, in Germany, Belgium, India or Croatia. There are twelve festival screenings in store for us.
Kacper Lisowski, the author of the fiction short film “Father’s Day” is one of the winners of 36th edition of Short Film Festival in Clermont Ferrand, which ended yesterday evening. The film was awarded by the Student Jury.

The Berlinale festival has just announced the list of films qualified for this year’s short film competition. The 10-minute-long animation by Ewa Borysewicz, “To Thy Heart” is the sole Polish film on the list.
Beginning with the new year, Polish documentary films have a chance of new laurels. In the first month of 2014, the audience of six film festivals will see six Polish films.
