At the recent Short Film Festival “Fenêtres sur courts” in Dijon, France, the documentary “Charcoal Burners” by Piotr Złotorowicz was honoured with the Grand Prix award
The director of the short feature film “Don't be Afraid of the Dark Room”, Kuba Czekaj, was successful at the First Step Film Fest Festival in Albania's capital – Tirana.
The documentary by Jakub Stożek was chosen the best international short film at the 5th DOCSDF – International Documentary Cinema Festival in Mexico City. It is the first significant award for the debuting director.
Once again this year, the student etude by Matej Bobrik stood on the podium, winning one of the most important awards at the recently finished Short Film Festival “ Cortopotere” in Bergamo, Italy.
On the 5th November, Polish Film Festival in Austin, Texas, starts. This is a unique event in this part of North America. It unites the presentation and promotion of Polish cinema among people of Polish ancestry, as well as Americans.
The documentary film „Little Bride” by Lesław Dobrucki – screened at the festival in Karlovy Vary in Czech Republic, Era New Horizons in Wrocław in Poland or Dokufest in Kosovo – in the first part of October were shown and, what is more, awarded at the Vilnius Film Shorts Festival.
On the 26th October, two events, which can be considered the most important ones in the world of documentary cinema, started. These include 14th International Documentary Film Festival in Jihlava and the accompanying film market East Silver. During the opening ceremony of this unique event, the winners of the Silver Eye award were announced. Among them there were Polish films.
The ninth edition of the International Short Film Festival FIKE in Portugal has ended. For the first time in the history of this film event, Polish films appeared in the competition and for the first time two of them were honoured with laurels.
After the recent successes at the Russian festival Flahertiana in Perm (Silver Nanuk for “Chemo” by Paweł Łoziński, Honorary Awards for “At the Edge of Russia” by Michał Marczak and “North from Calabria” by Marcin Sauter)Polish film-makers have conquered Leipzig. “A Piece of Summer” and “North from Calabria” have been awarded.
At the recently finished Taipei County Film Festival - International Student Film Golden Lion Award, in Taiwan, two Polish school films that were produced by the Polish National Film School in Łódź appeared among the winners.
International Documentary Film Festiwal in Jihlava is coming soon, as well as the wide range of accompanying events, commonly called “Industry Section” for film professionals. One of the elements of the programme is the Polish co-production panel “Polish Day”, that is consisted of lectures, presentations and master class – all concerning the structure of Polish film environment, as well as the meetings with Polish producers and filmmakers.
At the recently finished International Documentary Film Festival “Flahertiana” in Perm in Russia a wide range of Polish documentaries was presented. Several of them took part in the competition as well and – what is more – several of them received the main prizes.
